Ketorolac in Breast Reduction: Balancing Analgesia and Bleeding Risk.
Abstract
The perioperative use of ketorolac in breast reduction surgery requires careful consideration of both its analgesic benefits and potential bleeding risks. In response to recent correspondence, we highlight that our meta-analysis stratified hematomas by severity, recognizing that even conservatively managed cases may influence patient satisfaction in aesthetic surgery. The current evidence base remains limited by heterogeneity in dosing protocols, timing of administration, and surgical techniques, underscoring the need for randomized controlled trials and patient-level data analyses. Although ketorolac may confer opioid-sparing effects, the clinical significance of this reduction has yet to be clearly established. The potential impact on bleeding risk should be carefully evaluated, particularly in patients with additional predisposing factors. Clinical judgment and individualized assessment remain central to optimizing perioperative analgesia and safety in aesthetic breast surgery.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article.
