Abstract
Particle therapy's distinct depth-dose profile may reduce normal-tissue dose while maintaining intensity-modulated radiotherapy-comparable target coverage, thereby potentially lowering treatment-related toxicity and/or enabling safe dose escalation. We consider uncertainties in adult head and neck particle therapy across delivery/verification, radiobiology, and patient selection.
