The History of Dermatologic Surgical Body Sculpting in the New Millennium.

[BACKGROUND] In the year 2000, Dermatologic Surgery featured a series of Millennial Articles which reviewed the many contributions of this journal to our field. "The History of Liposuction" appropriately focused on the evolution of this groundbreaking technique.

[OBJECTIVE] Now, as we celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Journal, the field of body sculpting has expanded well-beyond traditional liposuction. Many of those advances were first revealed in research articles published here.

[METHODS] A review of all articles published in Dermatologic Surgery from 2000 to 2025 was conducted using search criteria such as "liposuction," "fat transplantation," "cryolipolysis," "cellulite," and similar terms.

[RESULTS] The most important articles on body contouring in the recent dermatologic surgery literature were compiled to use for reporting notable advances in the field.

[CONCLUSION] Dermatologic Surgery continues to be a leading resource for research in body contouring.
