Use of silicone injections in facial defects.

For more than ten years, the judicious use of intracutaneous injections of relatively small quantities of pure liquid silicone for amelioration of certain deep lines, wrinkles, and atrophic lesions of the face has given gratifying results. Pure liquid silcone meets all the criteria for an ideal injectable fluid prosthesis except one-it is not currently readily available to all qualified practitioners. I discuss the use of silicone for cosmetic purposes.
