[Thermal burns of the scalp in childhood: the characteristics of their course and surgical treatment].

Over the period 1962 through 1977 a series of 96 children with head burns (4.8 per cent of the total number) underwent treatment in the children's department of the Clinic for Thermal Trauma. Some of the characteristic features such as predilection involvement of the age group up to four years, development of a large collateral edema, midbrain symptomatics requiring preventive therapy, slow and poor quality epithelization, and not infrequent injury to cranial bones are discussed. In twenty-one of the patients free skin plasty was performed over granulation surface, exposed bones and dura mater.
