Breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Some thoughts and experiences.

When faced with a patient with a lump or lumps in the breast, it is clear to the general surgeon how the situation should be handled. However, if the patient has already had multiple breast biopsies, then the surgeon is less certain. If the patient also has nodular or granular breasts, the choice of correct treatment becomes almost speculative. It is because of these uncertainties that this article has been written. A series of suggestions on the sequential steps to be taken in the treatment of women with precancerous or cancerous lesions, with emphasis on reconstruction of the breast, is listed.
