Aplasia cutis congenita of neck and shoulder requiring a skin graft: a case report.

Abstract
A case of aplasia cutis congenita in a neonate is presented, involving absence of skin over the left side of the neck and shoulder. There were no associated abnormalities and the defect was successfully skin grafted on the ninth day after birth. Several possible causes have been adduced to explain amnionitis as a result of intrauterine injury and amniotic bands but a strong factor in this case was felt to be maternal chickenpox contracted during the fifteenth week of pregnancy.
