[Technics of velopalatal reconstruction].

The reconstruction of palatal defects of tumoral, malformative or traumatic origin remains a surgical challenge. The various surgical techniques available are reviewed in this paper, together with prosthodontic palatal obturators. One case of palatal reconstruction with a buccinator mucomuscular island flap is reported. The advantages of the buccinator flap seem noteworthy when compared with the disadvantages of the currently used flaps.
