[Correction of baldness using a grafting method].

Hair grafting techniques, which have now been performed for more than 25 years and which have undergone considerable progress as the result of refinement of technical details and development of new instruments, are frequently criticized because of the high incidence of poor results, in particular the thinned appearance of the grafted hair. The purpose of this paper is to show that the poor results are due to poor technique and that the principle of hair grafts is still perfectly valid. Observation of a number of technical and instrumental details: haemostasis by pneumatic compression during the operation, double-bevelled circular scalpel, variable speed electric motor, preliminary infiltration of the donor and recipient sites, oblique angle of incision with the scalpel, together with the advantage of minor, outpatient surgery, allows excellent aesthetic results to be obtained in the majority of cases.
