【연구 목적】 나병(leprosy)에서 신경 손상의 병리 및 기전에 대한 이해 증진이 신경염(neuritis) 치료 계획의 변화를 가져왔으며, 예방적 신경 수술(preventive nerve surgery) 개념의 대두와 발바닥 궤양(plantar ulcer)의 발생 기전 및 임상 양상의 명확화를 목표로 한다.

Abstract
A better understanding of the pathology and mechanisms of nerve damage has changed the plan of treatment of neuritis. A concept of "Preventive Nerve Surgery" has come up during last few years. The genesis of plantar ulcers and its presentation is better understood now. The recent developments in the treatment of paralytic deformities of hand and foot have been outlined.
