Periocular flaps.
Abstract
[BACKGROUND] Most flaps used in periocular reconstruction are random pattern flaps.
[OBJECTIVE] To discuss the principles of periocular flaps as they relate to oculoplastic surgery, with an emphasis on reconstruction of the eyelids and ocular adnexa.
[METHODS] The advantages, disadvantages, and techniques of reconstruction are reviewed.
[CONCLUSION] The ability to conceptualize and utilize flaps in periocular surgery enormously extends the surgeon's capabilities to produce optimal results for the patient.
