Abstract

Four new triterpenoids, pirifoliusic acids B-E, together with seven known compounds (5-11), have been isolated from Rubus pirifolius Smith. All these structures were determined by spectroscopic techniques. All the isolated triterpenoids were assessed for cytotoxicity against HL-60 (leukemia), A549 (lung), SMMC-7721 (liver), MDA-MB-231 (breast), and SW480 (colon) cancer cell lines. Among them, compounds 10 and 11 exhibited significant cytotoxicities against these five cancer cell lines.
